Your Questions, Answered

Check out the answers to the FAQs below, and don’t hesitate to get in touch if you have any additional questions.

  • At the beginning of your first session Miranda will go through important paperwork with you including a consent form that covers issues such as confidentiality, fees and other information about your sessions.

The remainder of the first session is spent discussing the issues that have led you to seek therapy. As well as developing an understanding of your concerns, Miranda will explore relevant background information. Based on this information Miranda will begin to help you to understand more about what might be triggering and maintaining your current issues. If time allows, she will also work with you to develop a collaborative and flexible plan for future therapy sessions.

  • Sessions last approximately 50 minutes. The number of sessions depends on your therapy goals - this can be discussed in your initial session/s.

  • From April 2026 - individual sessions cost $200.

You do not need a referral to see Miranda. However, to be eligible to claim a Medicare rebate you will need to obtain a referral from a GP.

Credit card details are collected and securely stored and you are automatically charged after the session. The rebate is applied automatically if a referral and Medicare details are provided. All payments must be upfront. Any workcover sessions must be paid upfront, and you as the patient are responsible for your own paperwork and reimbursements.

With a Mental Health Care Plan, the Medicare rebate is $87.25 per session for up to 10 sessions per calendar year.

For women with a current or recent pregnancy (within the last 12 months), a rebate of $72.55 is available for up to three perinatal counselling sessions. A referral is required from a GP.

If you have private health insurance that includes psychological counselling as extras cover you may be eligible for a partial rebate. It is recommended that you contact your individual insurance provider for further information about your coverage.

  • Some evening telehealth appointments are available. Please discuss your preferences with Miranda

  • If you need to change or cancel your appointment you must arrange this no later than 48 hours prior (2 business days) to your scheduled appointment time. This allows enough time to offer your appointment to other patients. If you cancel or change your appointment within 48 hours, you will be charged a 50% fee for this session. If you forget to attend your appointment, the full session fee will be charged (Medicare and private health insurance do not provide rebates for cancelled or unattended appointments).

  • Current waitlists are short, we recommend you book any doctors sessions for a referral as soon as possible in order to access your Medicare rebate.
